A reminder that this year event which will be the 20th anniversary concert and a ‘landmark occasion’ has been brought forward in response to requests to avoid exam timetables and takes place on SUNDAY MARCH 22ND and at the date of this posting ( 12 /02) that’s barely 6 weeks away ! Its again at the Robert Ludlam Theatre Derby at 19.00

NOMINATIONS TO PERFORM :

This is an urgent reminder to all clubs intending to nominate performers that they need to do so as soon as possible and if possible no later than February 28th ! It being the 20th and landmark anniversary for the event its hoped that as many clubs as possible try to and identify and submit their young nominee’s application to perform.

TICKETS

Though usually well supported, getting ‘bums on seats’ is not the easiest task so once again club secretaries will soon be mailed a supply of tickets on ‘ sale or return’ . Still unable to find any better means of ensuring a good audience it’s accepted they’re mailed out ‘unsolicited’ however they aren’t ‘ours’ but are issued by the theatre and therefore ‘hold a ‘face value’ so to any club unable to sell their allocation , WE REALLY DO NEED THEM BACK ! NO LATER THAN SATURDAY MARCH 14TH Please try and sell yours if you can and even if you may not have a participant ,try and support the evening – It’s always a highly enjoyable evening with wonderfully talented young performers

ATTENTION ! CLUB YOUTH SERVICES CO-ORDINATORS

Hello all ! ……. after some delay and uncertainty I’m pleased to be able to announce the date of and venue for what will be our 20TH SUCCESSIVE D-1220 YOUNG MUSICIAN GALA CONCERT .

After much consideration and heeding comments made to us in recent years as to the date being too soon at the start of the summer term &/or close to important examinations , we have brought the event forward to SUNDAY MARCH 22ND which is towards the end of the spring term but before Easter and hopefully any holiday arrangements.

Depite it being over 9 months since the fire, no decision has been made yet by Derby City Council as to the future or otherwise of our long established venue, the Assembly Rooms so we’ve been faced with a decision as to where the 2015 event should be held , however due to it’s ‘professional theatre’ format and facilities, the co-operation of it’s technical team and not least ease of access & parking we’ve had no hesitation in returning to where we were obliged to move following the fire , namely the ROBERT LUDLAM THEATRE

Please note however that if you have a potential performer, when you’re ready to send the form back please make sure , you ( i.e the Rotary club)) completes it and submits it District and not the school (etc)

Should anyone be unfamiliar or need any guidance as to the criteria for identifying performers then as long as the person concerned has enthusiasm and ambition in their music, plus the ability and confidence to perform in public , how far they have advanced is not critical . Each year we’ve always tried to balance the programme aiming at a ‘showcase’ to include young learners from year 7 upwards (or even younger from primary education) through to year 11’s whose level of attainment is already setting them on the path to a musical career . Anyone who may be in any doubt as to someone they may have in mind , then please get in touch and have a chat with either of us.
