Creation of Kilburn Memorial Area and Nature Reserve
Amber Valley Rotary have been working closely with Kilburn Community Association (part of Kilburn Parish Council) to do something wonderful for the residents of the village – restoring an area that had deteriorated badly to a beautiful place to remember loved ones. Local schools and youth groups also benefit by using the area to participate in outdoor activities. A former nature reserve, the area’s first phase is due to be completed by autumn 2023, and phase two by late summer 2023.
Are you in a position to lend a hand either short or long term? For one phase or two? Enjoy working alongside local residents for the long term – and much appreciated – benefit to the area.
Belper Cemetery
The Rotary Club of Belper and Duffield have worked incredibly hard along with volunteers from the community since 2021 to clear the cemetery of undergrowth and help to make the memorials more readable.
It is essential to maintain and improve access to graves. Therefore, they are now seeking additional voluntary support in order to help maintain their wonderful work in this important community asset! Whether you can help for one session, or on a more long term basis, we would be delighted to hear from you! The project is also in need of minor items of equipment, PPE, and possibly plants as the work progresses.
Wollaton Hall Walled Garden – Restoration of Slip Gardens
An exciting opportunity to get involved with this project to restore a stately home kitchen garden. The wall is a rare example of a heated walled garden of over 4.5 acres.
We are pleased to say that some funding has already been received from English Heritage and the Lottery Fund. Could you help with excavation equipment, crushing machine, plastic waste disposal, top soil, or mechanical compaction equipment?

Purple for Polio – World Polio Day
24th October is World Polio day where we make special efforts locally to raise awareness about and funds for the eradication of Polio worldwide.
We engage with local communities to plant crocus corms on or near to World Polio Day and would love you to join us in this educational and eco-friendly campaign for colour and awareness.
Local Rotarians also go to great efforts to organise fundraising events such as concerts, jumble sales, and other activities.
Could your business help us to raise awareness in our local community and continue the great work across the world?
Santa’s Sleigh
Every year, District 1220 deploys many Santas to engage with the public who look forward to the opportunity to have a little fun and contribute to local funds.
We welcome partnering with businesses who would like to help with the collections, the preparation/maintenance of the sleigh, contribute funds, or in any other way join us in spreading some Christmas cheer around the district!
Eco Greenhouses
Children love to contribute to this eco-friendly initiative by collecting empty drinks bottles via their school or other community project and saving them towards the big project – Eco-friendly greenhouses!
Join us for a fun day of building the structure of the greenhouse and helping to put it all together! We are also looking for businesses who could provide timber, fixings, and perhaps some expertise on what to grow inside!
