Nearly one million young people aged 16–24 in the UK are not in education, employment, or training, a number that’s still rising. Behind that statistic are real young people across our District: aspirations on hold, talent going unseen.
Rotary District 1220 runs seven Youth Competitions (in writing, music, art, photography, environmental action, culinary skill, and public speaking) giving that talent a genuine stage. We also support Rotary’s wider youth programmes, from RYLA to Youth Exchange to RotaKids.
This year, we’re on a mission to bring Youth back to the front of every club’s agenda across District 1220.
A simple, honestly-framed scoreboard (recommend updating monthly if we can). Starting point: no formal tracking existed last year; only 2 of 60 clubs entered a youngster all the way through to a national competition (3 young people, 0 wins).
Many thanks for your interest in Rotary’s Youth Competitions. You can find links to the various Competitions on offer here. Please liaise with your local Rotary Club if you have youngsters interested in entering any of the competitions.
