Teddy Tombola at Christmas Lights Switch On
Article provided by Rotary Club of Epworth & Isle of Axholme
After a long wet spell the weather turned and we had a clear dry but VERY cold evening at the christmas lights turning on in Epworth, North lincolnshire. The Lions santa Sleigh arrives to collect letters so we always have a good turn out of families.
We recycle loved soft toys, wash them and wrap in cellophane. Every raffle ticket wins a soft toy; after all who wants to disappoint a child at christmas?
Over the years we have raised funds for Shelter Box, Aqua Box, Bluebell Wood Children’s hospice in Sheffield, natural disaster victims and for a Sensory room in a local primary school. Belton Primary school helped us collect toys this year and we raised £283.21p for a Lego Educational WeDo Class pack technology set for their school.
We also brought a lot of smiles to young faces and make ourselves known to local families.
