Well done and Thank You to each and every one of you for all your hard work and enthusiasm. I am so proud of all you have done to help others in your Local Communities and beyond. You have changed very many Lives and given them hope for the Future.
It was truly very difficult to select the Winners for Awards and Trophies as you all deserve them !!
It has been a Joy and a Privilege being DG . Thank You.
With every good wish for your success and happiness in this new Rotary Year

David gave us some background information on himself, showing his worldwide work as Export Manager of Coats Viyella, more latterly with East Midlands Chamber of Commerce on Trade Missions. He also accompanied our 2013 GSE team on the trip to Nepal. Born in Glasgow, he had links with youth with Cubs, Scouts, Youth Club Leader, moving on to Round Table, moving to Derbyshire 25 years ago, training a young Rugby squad. He moved on to his Rotary visit to the New Presidents Convention, showing us a 2 minute video from Mark Maloney that inspired the new ‘strap line’ of “Rotary connects the World” and out lining the objective of “Grow Rotary”.
David was taking up the challenge working with The Chamber of Commerce and promoting the Corporate Social Responsibility programme/opportunities.
Overall an energetic, inspiring presentation that reflects his personality.
Maggie then gave a heartfelt ‘Vote of Thanks’, suggesting that his District Conference Theme of “The Difference is you” should provide a platform to grow Rotary driven by his dynamic, cheerful personality. She confessed to being born in Scotland herself, being a Scottish Highland dancer and looking forward to a “Gay Gordons” at the Conference with David?!

All the events combined raised just over £3,000 – some has already benefitted Stocksbridge Park Steels Defibrillator fund as already reported in Look Local.:-
Fundraising Event – https://issuu.com/looklocalnewspaper/docs/issuu_1042/15
Cheque Presentation:- https://issuu.com/looklocalnewspaper/docs/issuu_1045/5
We have also been involved in a joint project with Ecclesfield Parish Council to provide Defibrillators around the local area as also reported in the Look Local paper:- https://issuu.com/looklocalnewspaper/docs/issuu_1049/6
Thanks to all who volunteered to man the events, and to all who turned out to support them and visit Santa or contribute to the bucket collections.
We welcomed DG Cheryle Berry to our club meeting on February 25th this year to talk to to us about Kerala and “Prepare to save a Life”, before helping our President Steve Knight to present a cheque for £2,500 to Abbie Pervin from The Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity – This was the biggest beneficiary from last year’s Vintage and Classic Car Rally.

Each year, six main charities are selected from applications to receive a split of 50% of the profits plus the income derived from nightly bucket collection and programme sales. The remainder is donated in various directions. In 2018 Music in the Gardens distributed £58,000 both directly to charities and in-directly through “rewards” to Rotary Clubs for helping organise Music in the Gardens conditional that the money is allocated to charities. The “trickle-down” effect of where the money raised by Music in the Gardens ends up is impressive.
Other direct supported charities:
Distribution via Rotary Clubs:
In addition Music in the Gardens supports The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra, The Unite the Union Brass Band and many local suppliers of equipment and services for printing, design, hire, catering and security.
Join us for this year’s event 5th – 7th July.
